meh I think buying an LS1 car is a smarter thing to do when it comes to not losing so much money in the end..do what I do..keep the paid off LT1 and wait around for a nice LS1 car..they are getting cheap enough to have both now : ) but i'm also a sucker for labor..I hate it..i think LS1s into a LT1 car is awesome..but why? sometimes ya know..

There are a few more benefits to owning a LS1 too. Unless you've done all what they already have. Some are suspension benefits, but most I think are brake and posi. That's why I went with a newer rear end for my car. The better posi in 99+ and the bigger brakes (98+)

You could do like a did and get both. I found a stock 02Z auto for a good price with 36,000 miles and transformed it into a bolt-on 11 second car with used performance parts from friends. Someone is alwayslooking to go bigger & better.

I would say price them out. Figuring out what it would cost to do the swap, and you will need everything, motor, trans, PCM, wiring, sensors, Kmember, blah blah blah. If you are a big fan of the LT1 front and love your car (and everything else on it is perfect) but just want a new attitude, then do the swap, otherwise you may want to look into just buying an LS1.
I think down the road I will be making that desicion myself. My car needs body work and interior work, so essntially to pull it off to where I would have to do a lot more work. interior is easy though, and the body work I want to learn how to do so this still may be a good car to do it with...

My car is paid off, and sitting for a bit
Im just going to throw together a very low buck fast LT1 setup...Some more compression and a custom cam and thats it and should move with not alot of money into it and its going to be a light car also
Now later on after its running and im done messing with it and have money to play it
Im going to do a LSX of some kind and swap it in

Some of you all have some good points for most cases. My situation is a little different..I have the knowledge, time, and resources to do such a task, and I completed it, with something that eats up LS1's for breakfast..
That and I'm knocking on the door of a 10.XXsec pass..
IMO..it's not that hard to do, and I would do it.
As far as the LS1 upgrades, I have the Brakes, Drive Shaft, and I built a 10 Bolt in my Car that is pretty stout.
Personally I wouldn't hesitate to do it to a LT1 Car, mine doesn't get Emissions checked, Insurance is $50/Month, and it's paid for.
And yes, it is one hell of a sleeper..

Rember if you if you get a nice clean motor, while its already out and your ready to do the swap
You can throw in a nice big cam, or even do a heads n cam befor you swap it in
Saves you alot of time later on
