hydra rev kit?
Bout to install a Hydra rev kit on the bird and want to know if any Hyd roller guys out there have had any luck with it. Picked up from a friend of mine at a good price, so I figured any valve-train upgrade would be better than none. Thanks fellas

I dont know any LT1's running that kit, the only national car that I know of was GMHTP's Thunder Chicken which had a MTI 396. It was a 93 and saw alot of road racing time. It seemd to be the only cheap solution at the time. But no adays there are alot of quality lifters that can handle the pressure of the springs (morel, LS7,Caddy). There had been post ive read in the past over at cz28.com of them coming apart. I dont have the links to back it up but I would suggest researching that.
The only other issue is adding more friction/weight to the valve train, these can hurt you. I guess the big question is what RPM are you running up to and how often will you see it is a big determination on if you need to run a rev kit.
Are you eating lifters??

No not eating lifters, just trying to see if it will help at higher rpm. The purpose of the hydra rev, as of what I understand it, is to keep the lifter from pumping up and rocking in the bore at high RPM. There are people out there that claim another 500 to 1000 rpm more out of their small blocks. I have Morel lifters, thunder racing hardened pushrods, 1.6 steel full roller comp rockers on a 7/16 stud with guide plates. Good valve train just trying to make it better. Shifting the motor(383) at 6800 because it peaks at 6500. It should peak around 7000 in my opinion considering the cam and heads set up. On a 355 the same set up should turn 7600.

Just changed springs in the car. Found #5 intake spring broken. If that were a beehive I'd be buying a complete block and possibly heads as well. Always been a double spring fan, it payed off in the long run too. Gotta like double springs,if not for anything else, just for that extra spring to save your ***.

long as you are getting good beehives and staying within their limits chances of breakage seem minimal.
Now understand there are guys running more than rated lift, and Comp switched to a cheap offshore supplier. Those problems have both caused breakage but neither of them is a flaw in the design of the spring
