Default Few Valve Spring Questions

Guys Im going to a CC503 and so far Ive got some 1.6 Comp Pro Mags NSA, GM guide plates, arp 7/16th studs, hardened pushrods, lsx lifters and Im about to buy springs but thats were I get confused.

The 503 has barely more than .5 lift (hence the name 503) on a 1.5 rocker and like .53 on a 1.6 so its not much but Im trying to figuer out the spring situation.

I want to run the pac-1218s

But I need to know if ill need shims (for the correct height), what locks and retainers, and will I need machining on the head.

Also does anyone know where I can pick up some valve seals for a stock headed LT1.

call up the tech guys at pac

as far as the locks, you need to find out which retainers you are going with

talking to the tech guys is your best bet, they get paid for advice, why not use them. good luck

I almost got some PAC double springs, but the lure of the beehives from comp cams was too great, im just happy I got a good set, with all the people complaining about them I thought I might get owned

NO machining required for 1218. For retainers, the same hardware that fits the Comp 918 will fit the 1218. I don't know the lt1 part numbers off the top of my head and I'm not at work, but if you can't find which retainers and locks to get let me know and I'll find it tomorrow.

As for shims. I always recommend checking the install height first. I know a lot of people just swap the springs in and don't have a problem though.

PAC was the original manufacture of performance beehives and that's what a PAC-1218 is.

Comp cams dual springs good to .600 lift. These are the ones Stealthformula suggested to me. He used them with his 503 swap and i already have some for my 503, just waitin on lifters and tune money to do the swap.

Good luck with the cam. Keep me updated on your results.

I will but I think I like the beehives just because they are are a little more expensive but the design is supposed to be much better at controlling the valves and stabilty all while saving weight.
