chances of me putting the cam in wrong?

Default chances of me putting the cam in wrong?

and when i run it my headers turn red hot almost instanly my friend said it sounds like the timing is retared alot becuase from 3k rpm and up it sounded good but anything under it just pops and sounds like crap. cant get it to idle cant get it to do anything look at my vids.


i think im going to rip the cam out and put it back in. just for fun

Yup, sounds like you put the opti on wrong. Any problems with your oil pressure?

look at the ignition and fuel systems, if the cam was "in wrong" you'd definitely know about it...

at youtube, powers84, title is " 97 trans cc503 " theres two vids and what do you mean i would know if i put the cam in wrong? and the oil pressure is fine at least for how its running.

oh its a 97' it has new opti new cap rotor, spark plugs and wires, lt headers w/ORY,
CC-987 springs, and comp harden pushrods, the 1.6 rockers wont go on but thats a long story thats in a different thread. 4.10 gm gears with weld axles and trickflow cover. a tuned pcm but its for a cc306 cam and not the cc503 that i have in it. and i think thats it.

If your # 6 piston is @ TDC then you installed it correctly. If its not your timing is off! from the pic it looks to be accurate but verify to be sure.

i thought you could just check the #1 tdc but i will check 6 to be sure too.

Oh you can, but right now from your pic your timing dots and cam dowl pin indicates that #6 cylinder is or is soposed to be @ TDC so if it is then your all good.

i was just told that my cam pins not long enough and i heard that before its supposed to be.540 long and i thought there was to different optis and not two different cams so what is it, wrong cam or wrong opti, the opti is new and its for a 97 the cam said its for a 97 , i dont know

wrong dowel pin. i think u may have one for a 93 or 94 cam, i can't remember, but there were two different length dowel pins.

ok but ifit was to short wouldnt you see it on the opti and wouldnt the bolts turnthe opti too.i just cant see this being the promblem. if it was to long mybe but not if it was too short.

no the pin turns the opti you need to take the cam out and replace the pin
