Just get the car there. So many times, people think they have to build some over-the-top all out 7 second drag beast to be competitive. It leaves them killing their budget, and not enough time to finish/test the car. Think about the HOT ROD pump gas drags. 75 cars were invited, 40 something showed up. A couple of mid 11 second cars were mixing it up, having a blast doing it too. They weren't going to win it, but you can't win it if you don't show up. Being at the event, bench racing with everyone, and having beers with everyone later, is 90% of the fun. The racing is the icing on the cake

Now to answer your questions, lol.......

This is MY take on it, just my opinion, I'm sure others will chime in....

Outlaw top 16
7.80---9.30

LTx Heads Up power adder top 32
8.80---10.20

LTx Heads Up N/A top 32
9.30---10.60

LTx Heads Up 6-speed top 32
8.80---11.00 (I don't see a lot of cars entering this one)

LTx Extreme top 32
9.50---11.00

A lot of cars will run multiple classes ( I think), I might have to go to this!!!!

Is there still a 28" tire limit on the heads up NA class? That will keep away any Stock or Super Stock class cars that might to show up. Unless I misread it, taller tires were only allowed in the heads-up power adder class. Those guys all use 30" to 33" tires.

I just re-read the tire requirements, kinda confusing. Most classes are limited to a 28" W tire, BUT any size drag radial is allowed, except for the Extreme class, where a 27" tire no W's or a 28" Drag radial is allowed.

The Thunder Shootout had a fair number of Stock class cars, those guys all run 9" X 29.5" or 30" tires. Super Stockers mostly run 12.2" or 13" X 30" to 33" tires. I just use 10.5" X 29.5" bias tires or 10.5" X 30" radials. Don't know why the 28" tire limit? The 10.5" classes have that rule, I'm told, due to the fact the Mustang guys can't easily fit taller tires under those cars. Not an issue for us. If there is an NHRA or IHRA divisional race that weekend I won't be able to come anyway. Haven't seen those schedules yet. Hope you guys have fun.

It seems like they are pushing for people to use drag radials, by allowing you to run taller drag radials than slicks.

I don't mind the 28" tire rule ALTHOUGH AFAIK isn't tony shep running a 29.5 slick on his car???? I'm not sure why he'd outlaw his own car but maybe it's an oversight on his part.... I'm running a 325/50/15 MT drag radial so i'm not concerned with the rule but it might need some investigation.. i'll talk to tony about it...

As far as my car i'm expecting to be running somewhere in the high 8's to low 9's depending on how much nitrous i put to it.... what will matter the most is how much testing/tuning i get between now and then. The motor just got dropped and the car is going to the shop to get the exhaust finished up, wiring done, and then it's going to be scaled.... I expect it to be running and making dyno passes and track outings by 1 January hopefully.... we'll see how my timetable works out. I might end up running all out on motor or just put it on 1 stage and run it in PA heads up.... Cuz runnin it outlaw and being comptetitive is going to take all 400hp worth of nitrous i have on both kits.... and i plan on creeping up on that tune with months of testing,dynoing,retesting....

i will look around, someplace i have a formula that i found when doing research for my events for equating tire sizes. it is based on surface area of the tire. makes leveling the playing field for different tires easier.
one thing about the stock guys, if i remember correctly they are limited to a 9 inch wide section. that is why they run the tall tires. may be something to consider when making that decision.

Tire size is always a debate no matter what and where you run

I had to ditch my Hoosiers and get a set of 325/50-15 M/T DRS for the race Getting them to fit was a little work but they now fit just fine I was not looking at it but I could actually shorten the alxe an inch and sit the car down on them if I wanted now.

Even at that with the stock PCM I am limited to around 140MPH.

I am just prying there is going to be enough passes with out hurting any thing. THAT is going to be the key to winning this thing. Not who fastest but who can endure

We overlooked that. That was the initial ruling. After we made adjustments I think we agreed unlimited tall slick in Outlaw,......... 29.5" max slick in the P/A and N/A classes, ............. 28" max slick in the 6-speed class .........and 27" max slick in the Extreme class.

Jeff, Taner, Chris, Ellis,.......correct me if I am wrong. I will get Kyle or Scott to correct the site. I am getting so confused on who I talked to and who said what and when and why! LOL.

Sounds good to me. I do not have the power to run much bigger then a 28 right now. I just got a set of 325s but they are heavy *** pigs! 47lbs ea mounted compared to the 30ea I had before.

Not a matter of power, it is what the car is geared for. I doubt many will want to buy both gears & tires for a one race deal. The 29.5" bias tires are taller than 30" radials at the finish line. Radials don't grow. You can run them almost touching the fenders, and never leave a mark. The EFI F body stockers all run 30" radials unless the track is just junk.

THe NHRA schedule is out now (http://www.nhra.com/content/news/25458.htm), and it doesn't look like you will have a problem there Ed, but the IHRA doesn't seem to be posted yet.

I'll be there, running the 6-speed class, and/or the PA class.

I should be there repping my Bracket Ninja skills, and try to qualify in Extreme Street. I don't think the car will go much quicker than 11.80s in KC.....by the way, anyone know the elavation and averages DAs they see there at KCIR???
