Default custom grind

i was thinking about getting a custom grind cam with the same specs as the MS4 for the ls1 instead of the CC306. does anyone run anything close to it in their LT1?

That would be intresting indeed, but your cyl heads (assuming stock) dont flow well enough to take advantage, i would wager that your improvement would on the same level as a cc306 w/ stock heads.

yea, i was gonna go cam only with the 306. and i was gonna port an extra set of heads from another 94 so they have more material. but i was wondering what was out there with a custom grind in that size.

here is the MS4 specs so you guys dont have to search.

LT1's and LS1's like different valve events, bad idea.

I agree the valve events need to be rearranged but, the actual duration, lsa is doable.I say tone the intake lift down about .040.I whould not run stock heads with it.Maybe go with a nice set of 2.00 1.60 valves and a expericed port job.Sounds like a good R&D project if you got the money.I would be interested if you did actually grind the same cam for sb2 just not recommended.

I just thought of somthing can anyone confirm the gm hot cams valve events for ls1 & lt1.Are they the same? They seem to boost performance in the same manner on each motor from the cars that i have seen.Just curious about which car responded better and why.Not trying to get off subject but i would like some sort of proof in our theories.

That would be a horrible idea on stock heads.

That cam is almost as big as the one in my 398.

yea i read up on heads to suit a cam that big, and thought about it.

would it be feasable to do with a set of heads?

And one more thing to think about is the LSx intake manifold helps mask the over cammed cars and keeps the RPM's around 7K max with the plastic intakes. That cam in our cars would probably want to rev 7500+ rpm's... And your car would be an absolute pig below 4500 RPM's with that cam. Just get a custom cam to suit your needs instead of the bigger is better mentality.

My new cam is in that range, with a bit less intake duration and right at 0.600" lift with 1.6's.

the thing with that is, i have no plan for it. i want a damn big cam in it like around MS4 area, but now i know i need heads to do it. i know the first thing i would do with an LS1 is an LS6 intake and an MS4.

this was just an idea i was thinking of this morning.

Sounds like you want a big cam to boost your ego, in that case this is pretty much the biggest off the shelf cam made for LT1's.
