Couple $100 bucks to spend, whats my next mod???
alright, got a couple hundred bucks to spend on some mods. I was thinking of valvetrain/cam swap, but may be a little more than i want to spend. I will be installing myself, so you can forget about labor costs.. I can get a LT4 hotcam kit for around $460, but everybody regrets that they should've gone bigger. The money I have is x-mas money so i can't save up for anything big... Would an underdrive pulley and some 1.6 roller rockers be worth it??? I want people to notice that there is a cam in my car with a nice choppy sound, but nothing extreme.. any recommendations on cam choice, or what I should do next would be great

Does that hotcam kit come with gaskets and everything you REALLY need to install it? My buddy had a hotcam on his DD 94 Z28 A4 and loved it, it pulled pretty nice and he had a stock stall and 2.73s.

i think minus the gaskets, which isn't much anyway, it comes with everything one would need... i've never heard a sound clip of one, put people say there are way better cams than the hotcam, would the cc502 or comp xfi 280 cam work good on stock heads?

i run the hotcam kit, you cant beat the price. People do still notice theres a cam in ur car, if you want people to definetly notice when u send ur computer off to get it tuned tell him you want a lower idle. Eventually ill go bigger, but for now its a daily driver in the summer and I dont regret getting it. A timing set is about 11.00 from a part store, and ull be able to reuse ur valve covers, and an intake set is about 15.00...Over all its a cheap set up and you'll he satisfide with the change..Like and mod youll always want more, even these guys running 9sec and 10sec still want more.

I havent taken mine to the track yet, all we have is 1/8ths around here, i might take a road trip a couple hours away and see what i can run. Im running a 2500 stall, but for next spring im hopin to be running LT headers instead of my edelbrock shorties, and ill port my heads this winter, thinking about upping to a 52, or 58mm throttle body and running 26lb injectors.

The hotcam is old technology but will still put down good numbers and get a GREAT daily driver cam. The kit is very cheap and for the money well worth it.
I was sooooo close to ordering a Hotcam kit for my car for this winter but instead just bought a whole new car!

yea, the hotcam is great but i would step up to a lil bigger cam, you could look aorund on forums to find a used custom ground cam, that what my friend did, he found a 224/224 cam, he ended up putting down 345 rwhp with great diveablity, or u could run a cc503, alot of poepl liek that cam, and if you find some good used parts it isnt much more hten a hotcam kit

If you have bigger plans for the car, save the money and do it right.
Example, me and a friend of mine built his 331 mustang in my back garage. He was in a hurry to get it done and just started ordering parts with no real goal in mind. Now, to this day, he has changed the headers 3-4 times, the heads 2-3 times, and the intake around 5 times. He is ALWAYS changing parts out on the car, he reads about bigger and better packages all the time and thinks he will pick up that 4-5 HP for 1000 dollars.
Get a set goal in mind that you will stick with, then start ordering everything you need. I usually order all the universal parts that would work for a wide variety of things first, ex. headers, suspension work.
