Default Water pump

I have a 1995 camaro, the water pump went out on it. I am buying a new water pump from jegs, I am also looking at doing a electric water pump. Is there any plus's or minus's. I also heard that if you do the electric water pump that you can delete the timing chain???? Any advice is helpful

If you run an electric water pump there less drag on the timing chain/crank cam. If un run the e/wp you can run an old style small block timing chain like a double roller.

My opinion the huge con of an electric water pump is if you were doing a road trip, it burned out on you, your running a double roller timing chain. If it burned out you cant put a stock in its place to limp it home. Youd have to wait until you get another electric pump. Kind of a pain in the ***. Not worth it on a cruise car in my opinion.
