a little more lift... and so forth. you actually feel a slight difference when you swap them, you feel a bit more when on nitrous... IMO i wouldnt run them on stock valvetrain, although i know plenty who is works fine for.

do it, never hurts to build an extra parts base. even if you dont use them, you could always resell

I'd do it, you will get more lift out of the stock cam which will give you a few horses. I would throw new springs in there at the same time just because stock ones aren't made to really handle any more lift than the stock cam puts out and it wouldnt hurt.

I have a spare set of Crane Golds 1.6rr sitting in a box at home I want to put on. I imagine the big benefit comes from swapping out higher mile stock valve springs for new ones. Any moving part, especially a spring is bound to wear over time.

I bought a set of the cheap eBay 1.6 self aligning roller rockers once. I already knew ahead of time that I wasn't going to have them for very long since I was planning a cam swap and needed non self aligning. I just threw them on my stock 140,000 mile motor (with the stock valve springs) for the hell of it since they were cheap. They were in there for a year with no problems. When I finally did my heads/cam swap I took them off and sold them to a buddy who put them in his stock car for another year with no problems. I wouldn't plan on running them permanently with the stock springs, however.

Before my cam swap, i was just collecting all the parts and the rr's were one of the first things i bought. A few weeks after having them one of my stockers broke, just cruisin and the thing snapped. Everyone thought i had to have been beatin the **** out of it but i wasnt lol. Anyhow, i threw on the 1.6's (compcam magnum sa) and drove around for a few months no problem. Actually changed the tone of the exhaust slightly. Not sure if i picked up any power but i would deff do it if you got some layin around. Im also sure youll notice a difference if your gettin the tune along with them. I have yet to be tuned since i've owned the car threw all the mods i have, so im not really sure what you can gain from a decent tune.... but im sure itll help the 1.6's give you a little more.

More lift would cause the exhaust to be a touch more lopey sounding, with some more throat to it. (assuming you have your exhaust opened up, at least at from the muffler back)

Yep, you nailed it. You can hear it with a cut out, it does sound better but its not a huge difference. These are what i used with my cc503 (i believe Stealthformula did too since he suggested them to me). They're deff not the best or most expensive thing out there but they've havent given me problems yet.

Well i used the ones in the link above and they are 3/8 stud. They bolted up fine to my stock heads. I think 7/16 is used when u upgrade the rocker studs (usually done in very strong/stable/highrevving valvetrains and maybe aftermarket heads). But for a mild cam like the cc503 the ones i used work just fine

Well the amount of hp gained is really affected by whether your an A4 or M6. But if the tune is done properly then i'm sure youll gain somewhere in that area.
