No shift under WOT
Ok, here is my problem, I have had my firebird since early 2001. From the day i bought the car, it had problems shifting into 3rd, by problems i mean hitting the rev limiter before it would shift and sometimes involved me taking my foot off the gas. Now the car was drivin like that for 60,XXX miles before the tranny craped out.
Had the transmission compleatly rebuilt. Drove it from the shop, WOT, still wouldn't shift right into 3rd. Put anouther 16,XXX miles on it and parked it due to college, no money, high gas prices, ect. Set up for a year.
Receantly, i fixed all the problems, head gaskett, leaking intake, ect, and am now driving it again, but with more shifting problems. Now the car will not do a 1-2 shift at WOT (or 2-3 for that matter). There has been no comp. modification to the vehicle. I am wondering if our shifts are controlled by A. throttle valve, B. vacuum module, or C. computor controlled. I have never seen anything that has to do with a throttle valve (no cables ect.), so that means it must be vacuum or comp, but with the comp. being stock, i am assuming that it has a vacuum modulator and a line may be plugged or disingaged.
Thanks for any imput...

The transmission is controlled by the PCM. My car did that until I had the transmission rebuilt.
Have the PCM checked to see if the shift points have been changed. You'll have to send it to somebody like http://pcmforless.com/

hate to bring up an old thread, but i figured it out. Well i say i figured it out, i overloaded it with tranny fluid (which is a no no btw) and now it shifts flawlessly, exept for the first pull after i overfilled it (tranny fluid comes out of dipstick tube at 90mph at WOT, white smoke everywhere, ect)
I think i am just going to have to switch to either a th-350 or 400, my future build is looking like 700-800 hp...
