So the 96Z had 2.73's and a 6-speed, WTF???
Yesterday I took my bro's 96Z 6-speed to install some 4.10's and to my surprise the car had 2.73's. I wanted to double check because I bought the Motive gears but for a 3-series carrier ! Now I have to send em back to get the correct ones so the car will be down till the end of the week. Im excited cuz the car felt so damn quick even with those sh!tty gears, I just hope I dont blow the rear at the track on stickies.
Just for verification, the ring gear had these #'s on the ring gear: 41/15 which came out to 2.73 when divided. Can anyone verify this?

Yeah I thought so too but this rear had the 2.73's. I've driven a few 6-speed cars and my bro's Z just seemed to pull forever in 2nd/3rd gear. It really bogs down in 1st gear under 10-15mph if you go WOT. I thought the car had 3.23's though cuz it still pulled really hard on a few stangs.

Yeah, but they also had the M29 IIRC. Sure wish my bro's Z had that 6-speed.
I was looking through the net and I cant seem to find any Motive 4.10's for a 2-series carrier, all I found was the spacer. I really dont want to get the Richmonds cuz every single person around here hates the whine/hum when they get off the gas.

GU6 is 3.42, 3.23 is GU5. I know, because I have both now Had GU5, have GU6 now (from a 99, whole rear setup).
I would check all the RPOs to make sure it's an original M6 and 2.73. Anytime in it's life it could've gotten a swap of EITHER. The rear or the trans setup.

wrong wrong and wrong
The 93's had two different spec'd 6 speed trannies
one was spec'd for 2.73 rear ends and the other was spec'd with 3.23 rears ends
here are the tranny specs for 93 2.73, 3.23, and 94-02 f-body specs respectively
1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th
3.36 2.07 1.35 1.00 0.80 0.62
2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 0.80 0.62
2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.74 0.50
With the 2.73's you have the 3.36 first gear, so with 4.10's it will be laughable how useless 1st and possibly 2nd gear are going to be
its generally understood that the 3.36 first gear is weak because of the huge reduction so be careful on those slicks

check this site out, if i were you i would opt for some 3.42's or 3.73 if you want to drive that thing on the street

Launching!
I bet I'm in the same boat. My 95 formula came from the factory with an automatic transmission. Someone swapped in a T56. I will have to look at my rear-end, now I'm curious as to what gears I have.
