yeah it pulls above then when im moving i can redline the car... yeah i had a feeling that the stock converter wouldnt hold up with that cam. i was running short on time and was low on cash and i had to get the car back on the road. so i can just get my stall and i should fix my problems... i mean v6 cars are pulling on me... when before i would pull on anything just about.

It's really not such a matter of the stock converter holding up, it's a matter of the stock converter not allowing the engine to get into it's power band. That cam doesn't start to pulluntil above 3000. Most guys prolly run a 3000-3600 stall with that.

Why did you choose to go with a big cam and not do any trans work? What did you expect to happen? I am not trying to be an ***, just curious why some people choose to go this route. It seems like everyone that does the cam/stall backwards kicks themselves in the ***.

No doubt. I did the stall/gears mod first, and have loved the car ever since; a 3200 is way too much stall for the stock cam I used to have, but with 3.73s and the stall, the car was a complete blast to drive even when the motor was stock. With a cam it just gets that much better.

The the OP... yeah, it's time for the converter. Don't go cheap on it, and get some educated opinions on just what to go with for your mods and cam. Might also be a good time for gears; 3.73 for your auto (4.10 on M6) are usually about perfect.

One VERY important point: you'll need a trans cooler with a high stall converter. Big stalls make more heat, and heat kills the fluid... and then the trans dies.

More power and converter install is also a great time to have the trans gone through - trans comes off for the converter, so you might as well save the additional labor of doing it agaion later, and have the trans freshened up before it fails, even if you don't do a full on performance rebuild.

I have a vig. converter and i love it. 3200 with my gm847 cam. Vig. converters are a little better for the street cause its a tighter converter. So with that being said, the 306 is similar to my cam. Only down side is the converter was $750. BUT you get what you pay for. My buddy bought a used YANK converter and it was pretty shot and it killed his FLT trans. So now its gona cost him $1000+ to fix what he cheaped out on.

Now its almost retarded driving my car cause now all it does it blow the tires off from a stop!! I need a damn preped road at every red light to even try to hook!! lol.
