Default LT1 bearings

OK so I found my LT1. Its coming out of a 96 fourmula with 146000K on it. I'm going to go through it with a compleat gasket and seal kit and go ahead and change the timing chain and gears while I'm in there. My question for yall is do you think it would be nessacery to change the main, rod, and cam bearings? I'm trying to save as much money as possible and do not want to spend it if it's not nessacery.

With that many miles, do it for piece of mind. May as well rebuild it...

Yea do it, I'd put new rings in it too. This may save you time and money down the road.

yep...on the gaskets only buy what you need youll save...whole engine kit was like 145 for me...bought head oil pan timing cover and intake gaskets and valve covers for like 80

ring bearings and meachine work shouldent cost over 350 if you can assembel it yourself...i did this and spun my car to 7k for 15k miles

Yeah but do you think that I could just hone the cylinder walls enough to just get the carbon out and not have to bore? Cuz I really dont want to have to buy oversized pistons.

Where did you find it for that price? I cant even find a compleat gasket and seal set. I priced all the gaskets, seals, head bolts, and timing kit from napa and it was around $350 and thats at cost.

Napa is your first problem And yes you can just overhaul the engine. I just took a stock shortblock, checked for clearance and straightness and then honed it with new rings and bearings. When you are putting the rings on make sure the dot is to the top and that the oil ring doesn't overlap, make sure you see red and green next to each other

lol napa... go to the machine shop for a rebuild kit.. comes with everything around $130
I've bought one from Enginetech C350P-A and Fel-pro
If you're building an engine go talk and listen to an engine builder... just ask for some advice, let them know what you're doin. they know how to get you down the road on low buck

Thanks guys. I found my engine guy just down the street from where I work seems like he know what he's doing. The parts guy at my local Chevy dealer recomended him so after I get the engine torn down I'll haul it down to him before I go through napa.
