Default AFR eliminator 180 or 195s?

Am at stock displacement and engine is pretty low mileage so don't think will be rebuilding it that soon. For now was going to be running pretty mild setup with CC305,1.6 pro mags, mac headers,2800 vig,3.42 gears and afr heads.Maybe also be hitting it with a small maybe 75 shot of spray.
Later if engine goes would do a forged 383 or 396 .Are the 180 heads really going to hold me back on a 383 .This car is 99% street car and again trying to keep things fairly mild. I realize if do go up to 383 could go for maybe a bit bigger cam and mostly worried the 180 heads might then be too small. Opinions guys????

Believe me the amount of air that the 180's flow is rediculous, they should be just fine on a 383. FYI I am about to sell my AFR 180's about 2000 miles on them, had rings fell and need rebuild money pm me if interested.. Just FYI, not trying to jack forum...

A friend is talking about selling his ported AFR 180s(not Eliminators) because THEY SUCK, he wants to put Advanced Induction ported stock castings on in their place because the AI heads actually perform. I would rethink the cam too.

Before going farther why do you want AFR?????

I have seen many many afr cars run excellent times and dyno great at local track. But most all of them have been ls1 and third gen and earlier gen cars. I have not seen too many lt1 cars running with afr heads locally at least. The main reason to run the afr is of course name brand. Just goes against my grain to pay over 1000 bucks for my stock heads ported out. As said not doubting that le or ai can do great job and that those cars get some great times. Also looking at resale down the road as this is technically the wifes car but I do plate it and drive it and also bought it for her. My main car is my 99 twin turbo project ta but I love my lt1 cars as well. That is why am also trying to stay fairly mellow in her car.I went with 3.42 gears, 2800 vig, the 305 is waiting for install with the 1.6 pro mags, mac headers and mostly wanted some good torquey head and do have a wet nitrous kit to get another 75hp or so occasionally. Car is not a track car so don't need to go crazy with cam. I have jet tuning software was tunercat but still running obd2. So far the car is very streetable with the gears and stall chosen and want to keep that streetability. Almost no one runs ported out ls1 heads they all run the afr or other similar brand name heads mostly but the l92 gm heads seem good also. For turbo use though thicker deck heads work well. I have no short term turbo plans for the 96z28 but might go procharger down the road also and then thicker deck heads might be a good thing.

Ok seems the 180 eliminators are just offered in lt1 config and the 195 are lt4 config and don't feel like changing out intakes. Says on afr site that the 180s are fine for 350 to 383 and doubt would need a 396 at any point in the future. Again this is a street car not race car and not hoping for stupid power or et /mph numbers NA. Car is heavy at about 3825 raceweight since is a vert.I would be pleased to see mid 12s at 110mph or so off spray and maybe 117 to 120 on spray and something in the 11s.

Found the dyno section on here and very few had afr heads, not that many even had ai or le head dynos. I can't see why the afr won't work well on the lt1 they work great on the ls1 cars and earlier chevies. Again for under 1000 would consider the le or ai heads but the le stage 1 don't seem like much of an upgrade over stock.
So not trying to start arguements here .Really would like to hear about some dyno and track numbers for lt1s with the 180s even the older design 180 afrs.

While all the info in this supplied thread won't apply to your build there is some real good info on cylinder heads in there by two cylinder head porters. https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-modifications/824891-hydraulic-cam-396-a.html You can also more than likely open your intake up (depending on the year) to match the LT1 port to the LT4 port heads.

I went with AFR LT4 race heads and had them professionally ported. The reason for this, in part, is becuase they come with a 2.08 intake valve and a 3/4 inch deck height. I was looking to make REALLY big power.

If you're not looking to make an all out race car, or even if you are, Advanced Induction should be more than sufficient.
