Cam for stroker

Cam for stroker
I'm in the process of building a stroker. I'm trying to decide on a cam for it.
The specs for the build so far are:
396 callies crank
11:1 compression pistons
Le3 heads
The car will be a 6 speed with 4:10's. It will also be a daily driver. I'm attempting to get an idea of how the bigger cubes will affect a cam's powercurve.
For example, will it make a cc306 be comparable to a cc305 in a stock cube motor? Or is the effect not that dramatic? Any experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thats what I'd do if I were you. Just shoot him a message and tell him what you are wanting to do with the car...Engine, Trans., and Gears, as well as suspension and tell him what your looking to get from the combo. He'll point ya in the right direction. He helped me when I needed some answers. Although 11:1 compression is good but he may tell you the same as he told me. Closer to 12:1 compression is where LT1's make good power. Good Luck.....James

Is 12:1 going to be pushing the limits of pump gas?

To be completely honest with you.... It is high, but you'll need to get a good tuner and it's not a problem. A dyno tune will be the best. Tony Shepherd is running 12.8:1 compression on his 397 Stroker and he is running premium pump gas as well when he is off the nitrous. Just something to think about. BTW if you pick up the latest Camaro Performers Magazine at any local Wal- Mart store, he has his car in the January Issue. It's a 93 Red Z-28.
Talk with Lloyd and see what he says. LMK I'm kinda anxious to see what he has to say. Good Luck Man. And if you need any help or suggestions just LMK. PM's are the best way to reach me....James

I've got a 396 w/ 12.5:1 similar heads, solid roller...I am running a pretty big cam at 260/266 .672/.672 on a 110. I would say Lloyd would go with something smaller than that esp. if you are hydraulically set up and daily driven. Good tune = safe on pump gas. I run premium 93 octane, no issues.
