LTXShootout, KCIR track questions
So I have been talking to some of the guys I race with in a series here on the east coast and told them about the LTX Shootout and how it was my first long travel event. a few of the guys have raced there beofre and said that teh track was consistanlt 1-2 tenths slower then our home track here. So I must pose the question, who has raced at KCIR and other places and how does this track stack up?
I was hoping to beat the LT1 bolt-on record in front of the LT1 community, but at this point if I am already dealing with a slower track this might prove imposible. Just wondering what other people experiance with the track was...

This is my local track and those of us locally are lucky to even have a track near us however, as much as I hate to say it, it's not that great. I've been to Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Bowling Green. KCIR is most like Beach Bend in Bowling Green, without the seating capacity. There is one set of restrooms in a concrete building (aprox. 15'X20') and one main concession stand (aprox. 20'X30"). The tower is one elevated story behind the staging lanes. The track itself isn't that bad other than nobody seem to be able to hook up on it. The owners have had finanical trouble due to issues with the city in past years and have had to spend money elsewhere (forced to pave a large parking lot which was gravel). There isn't much room for pit parking so I'm not sure where everyone willl be camping, other than in the grass East of the 1000' mark! There are no RV hook ups if you're bringing one! The tree ususlly has some lights on the back side out and when I went in October before they closed for the year the right lane time board was broken! I would like to think these things will be fixed before an event like this! Also unless they change last year the concession stand had a $2.00 fee to user your ATM/Debit card for every purchase! So I reccomend hitting up an ATM for cash before getting inside for the day! Feel free to reply or PM with questions.

Wow thanks fo rthe low down. Would you happen to know an average DA, maybe even what the DA might be like around the time of the shootout?

And this is the place decided to have an event this large? Wow, Im kind of disappointed. If I want to race at a track that doesnt hook, I can stay home. That is an awefully long drive to spin a tire

the midwest shootout everyone hooked awesome! i heard they wont be fixing anything for the next season though . the track is 30 minutes from my house. on grudge nights the track prep isnt that great but im sure the track prep for this event will be close to that of the midwest shootout. 96LT1355Z28 hit everything else

There are actually 2 sets of restrooms, one on each side of the track. Showers in the spectator side. There will be plenty of room for camping in the grass behind the pit side restrooms and back by the woods.
If you can't hook on KCIR's surface, you don't have your **** together! I ge tired of hearing guys running 400 hp cars complaining that they can't hook on that track when 3000 hp Pro Mods can hook. Stop making excuses and do some suspension work!

The track is actually a very good track as far as the surface goes. The problem you run into is that the elevation is right around 900', and the weather can be fairly unpredictable. Here is a video showing how good the starting line usually is:

This is video from our Fall Midwest Shootout that is held the first Saturday in November. This day it was in the 50's and sunny. I believe the DA was in the 1500-1800' range. A few weeks later the temp got to just above 40* and the DA was between -200 and 0' all day.
I personally don't see any N/A records falling, just because those records are usually set in DA's well in to the negatives. We probably won't have that good of weather

I'd have to say you are being way too negative. You can't compare NHRA National-event tracks to a local track. You just can't.
