Default Coolent temp gauge???

On a LT1 where do you guys install your sensor for a coolent temp sensor, I know on a LS1 there is a place in the passenger head but unsure on LT1's. Also if you know where I could put it do you know what size it is? I have an autometer gauge im trying to install and looking for ideas on where to put the sensor.

Thanks, Craig

the one for the stock cluster is on the drivers side head towards the front. since the heads are the same there should be another plug on the pass side but it would be toward the back. Im not sure if that will work but you could always use the one for the cluster. I believe the one on the waterpump is used by the pcm. If im wrong hopefully somebody will correct me.

oh so LT1's have 2 coolent temp sensors, so If I unplug the one for the gauge the gauge will not read but car will still run fine b/c the one on the water pump is the one that is controled by the PCM? I Might try and just get to the one on the passenger side head but its such a pain to get all the way back there...

Well i broke my driver side temp sensor during header install. The car ran fine but the gauge did not read. So yes, if you unplug the driver side sensor the car will still run.

the port on the drivers side is easier to get to, its between #1 and #3 plugs, its the one that the factory gauge uses

The sensor in the head is only for the guage. The sensor in the water pump is the one the pcm uses, so you can unplug the head one and use it.
