Mezeire Electric water pump...longetivity?
How long do these things typically last? Also when they die, does the engine temp shoot right up? A car that I am looking to buy has one installed, and its got me real worried..the pump setup has 30k miles on it. Thats a lot imho. Don't they say like 500 hours or something is the warrantied lifespan of it? Also how hard are they to replace and should I replace it before it takes a crap?

They are rated at around 35000 hours. Do the math; that is a lot of miles. If you are worried about them going out, there are ways to wire in relays and leds that will tell you the exact moment they fail. You will have to do a search (General Maintenance?) to find out the exact method to do this.
Best of luck.

I've got one and it hasn't let me down. I put it on in 2000, and has been through 3 episodes where I've had the engine out for misc. repair or improvement. Probably has about 12~15k miles on it over about close to 8 years I guess. Highly recommend.

depends how fast your going? 60 MPH will be 60 miles in an hour(duh), so 300,000 miles if you just figure its actually rated at 5000 hours....if its rated at 35000 hours that would be 2,100,000 miles...Ive got a CSR electric water pump in mine and i love it. I had to replace it this summer (turned out my relay was just shot so i still have a back up) and it took me a little less than 20 minutes, not to mention it deffinately keeps the temps down.

Oh yeah....lol. Well, I usually drive 90-100 miles an hour (i drive to work in the early hours), and sometimes i drive over 100 for hours at a time. It should still last a while then. Thats good to know its easy to change out. Do you have to buy the whole $500 pump or just the motor when it dies?

if the housing is modified which i'm assuming it already is since it does already have one.. it's like 8 bolts and the thing fall's out.. plop a new one in.. plug it in.. and go.. I have had 2 go out on me.. but even still i wouldn't go back to stock cause of it.. anytime you mod somthing it's lifespan is gonna dwindle.. def. one of the best mod's i ever did.. car never went above 177 deg.. in the dead of summer...

Everywhere I've looked says the life expectancy of a standard duty Meziere is 2500 hours. If you drive two hours a day, that would equate to roughly 3-1/2 years of use.
I've had mine for about 4 years now without any problems, but my car only sees 5000 miles per year. As with any aftermarket part, there's going to be some horror stories -- but the cooling system is vitally important. It helps to install warning LED lights somewhere in sight, so you have more time to pull over in the event of failure. I also installed a simple on/off switch (with led) so that I can shut it off when I'm messing with the electrical system / during programming.
