Default 302 Lt1

I heard that awhile back in 96 or 97 SLP came out with an engine package for the LT1 to de-stroke it to make it a 302. i was told it also added heads, cam and intake and made around 410HP @ 8500rpm, but i cant find anything on this.i did find an LS1 302 but it made its power at 6k. has anyone else heard of this?

An L99 crank in an LT1 block using the L99 rods and LT1 poistons will give you a super budget chevy 302 that lacks torque and the stock pcm rev limiter will stop you from spinning it high enough to ever make up for it in HP.

I sent a guy my old L99 rotating assembly and he tried it, even tried it as a milage motor in a Caprice and the lack of torque meant a lot of hunting and unlocking so it didn't even work for that. Was a cool application of backyard engineering though, as the L99 rods being longer(5.940) perfectly offset the shorter stroke allowing use of stock LT1 pistons.

One of the magazines did a LT4 heads on L99 build, again nothing but a novelty.

Why not just build a 383 that can turn 8000rpm and have the torque to go with it?

Go with a forged 355, with a snout bottem end and nice heads with a singel plain intake and you can get the same goals..

Better have a damn good valve train

Yea I wanted to do the L99 in LT1, but punch the LT1 out as far as it could go, just for fun, and probably drop it in an S-10.
