Default Exhaust suggestions?

I have a 355 LT1 with an LT4 hotcam, and I'd like to go with a different exhaust set-up.. possibly gain some hp and or sound quality.. I now have a 3" magnaflow catback with an ORYpipe.. sounds decent, but I was going to go with an xpipe/true dual dump set-up.. any suggestions on mufflers? What would be the cons and pros? Looking to dumping them before the axels. thanks in advance

I don't think you'll notice any power increase with the true duals, maybe at the very top end to say the least. For your set up, 3'' catback is sufficient. Although, true duals sounds nasty compared to a single 3".

I dont think you gain much from TD's over your catback. If you do it, do it for the sound.

I'm getting custom duals fabbed up since of my aftermarket torque arm but I decided to go w/ power sticks...they are a chambered muffler like the muffler on the gmmg catback but they have a true 3" flow path in their mufflers vs sweet thunder which is also chambered mufflers. Probably the best sounding is borla xr1 mufflers but those are also more for each muffler than two powersticks. Flowmaster 10 series single chambers are also popular as also dynomax bullets but those get a lot of mixed reviews. Theres man options. Magnaflow makes nice mufflers to throw on true duals as does edelbrock, etc..

i know these are LT1s, but id assume it'd work in a similar way...On an LS1, an h-pipe usually as a deeper, more old school, raw sound...an x-pipe has a higher pitched, more racy/exotic sound...most agree that x-pipes flow better, but at the same time a lot of people dig the H-pipe for sound quality, as for loudness between the two types, it all depends on what mufflers are incorporated into the system and personal preference...

ya what he said. I think H-pipe will throw out more horsepower in the middle of the curve and x will give u more peak power. here is a link to some videos of my car so u can here an H pipe.

Most people would disagree but I personally like the sound of the Y-pipe setups alot more than any TD setup and I've heard them all. I would go with the Powersticks or Sweet Thunders they sound the best IMO.

I have the same exh setup as Roadhog except he's running 3 inch and I'm running 2.5 and i get compliments all the time. Not to loud at idle but screams when hammered.
