should I switch oil pumps ?

should I switch oil pumps ? well I pulled my tranny out to check things out inside
I have a Melling oil pump and its the one where they made them thinner on the casting and I seen where they were cracking but thats under racing condition so I sent Melling a email and they said I shouldn't have any problemes
but I fig sence I have the tranny out that it will be alittle eassier to take out now?
oh I have 19000 miles on my motor.
plus how hard is it to take out the pump with the canton oil pan?
what you guys think?
