Tune or not tune.....
So here is the Deal. I am going to be purchasing 3:73 gears in the next week here I am going from 2:73.... ( How do I know what series I need BTW...)
The issue is I currently have these mods:
CAI
GMMG
Jet Hots
and other small bolt ons.
Should i just get a hyper tech to reporgram my computer for the gears or have my computer sent in and have them change it for gears as well as tune it???
I don't know whats best.... Has anybody been in my place before???

you could contact them before and they will answer all your questions and what you should expect. you will gain over 10rwhp just from the stock tune being to rich. and then if you ever plan on doing more bolt ons or h/c/i then it is only 50 for every retune at pcmforless and i think 25 for madz28(not sure on that)

depending where you are maybe there is someone local who could load a mailorder tune for you without you having to ship a pcm.
I do that for guys and it is nice to be able to hookup a laptop and datalog just to make sure all is good afterwards. Throw the guy a $20 or something for loading the tune from a professional and you spend no more than having had to ship crap all over.
The only time Hypertech is the right answer for any LT1 question is "what thermostat should I buy?", the tuners are always a bad choice.

only took me like a week if that, i think you can speed time up if you overnight your computer to them and tell them you need it asap. it says on pcmforless to contact them before you send it if you need it back in a hurry.

Just do the core exchange. That's what I'm going to do. Order a PCM tuned, the way I like it from MadZ28 for $125. Then, you add another $125 that's refundable once you send your old PCM in, after you receive the new tuned one. I think I read somewhere that only $110 or $115 is refundable though because they add $10 or $15 to the price due to having to load info from your VIN # onto a new PCM before tuning it.

My car came with a hypertech thingy and it's been handy as **** for me. I've done two gear swaps and changed tire size once. It's also nice to be able to play with the shift points at the track. Don't get me wrong, I would have never payed full price for one. If you could pick it up used for pretty cheap it might be worth while.
