94 is good, but the vented opti's are a must have sooner or later.

RODS
350 - The original LT1 came with regular forged 350 rods, that were shot peened for localized hardness under the head of the bolt and nut. Powdered metal rods were phased in for the Corvette around 1994 and used in all of the LT1 engines by 1995. GM made the change because the powdered metal rods were cheaper to make and were much stronger than the GM high performance "pink" rods. In fact, they are supposed to be good for up to 450 hp. They are machined at the parting line so they can be reconditioned.

i retract that statement. false info on here made me think the opposite.

So, do the 94 Z28's have the powdered rods? Could it be dependent upon build date?

Dependent on build date to when they switched over to the PM rods. I forgot what the build date on the 94 I tore down, but it had Pink Rods.

get 94 or 95 f-body due to OBD1 PCM which is easy to tune in first place and vented optispark for 95. you can upgrade a 94 f-body to vented opti-spark if you want. i personly prefer the 94 f-body, i used to have a 94 A4 camaro before.

btw, i noticed once when i wanted to caliprate the PCM of a 95 camaro that it has the OBD2 ALDL port but it still has OBD1 PCM. i think maybe this car was produced in the late of 1995.

Actually it's the same as any V6 in 97/98. interiors changed in 1997 and then again in 1999.

Most "LS1" cars don't have the same interior you do.
