Default Time for a change??

So I have about 75k on my stock timing chain and I'm wondering if it's a MUST to change it out at a certain milage. I've had some insane quotes on how much it was going to run to change it out. Anyone have their stock one still with high milage on it?

75k i really wouldn't worry about a thing, dont worry about it until you tear it down to put a different cam in

hell with all the lt1's used for police cars and cabbies with over 200,000 miles on them i highly doubt they have had their timing chains replaced

I would only change if your swapping cams. I swapped mine with only 10 or 11k on it when I did the cam. My buddys with 120k was mad loose compared to the new chain.

I have seen a few LT1 with a new change and maybe 30 track runs with a chain that seemed as lose as one in seasoned motor. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Maybe you hang out with too many ricers or something. Timing BELTS are replaced preventatively, timing chains generally are not.

My wagon has 226K on it and far as I know the chain is original, the body will be completely rusted away before I worry about the chain.

In general, I would say at around 150k.
