Default Need emission legal - are mid tubes worth it

Living in the Atlanta , GA area I need to keep emission legal (sniffer & visible CAT inspection for ODB1). Was thinking about PaceSetter mid tubes (50 state legal) or some long tubes with EGR, AIR and after market high flow CAT. But I am still leaning towards the mid tubes because I would hate to cut up my Corsa SS cat-back setup. I have read that mid tubes are not much better than stock exhaust. Is that true ?. any opinions ?

While not emissions legal MAC mids seem to be a popular option for those that are attempting to keep the cat in the stock location for emission apperence purposes. I looked at the pacesetter mids for awhile but I've heard from a few people that the thin flanges on the pacesetter mid tubes made them prone to exhaust leaks.

Another Mid tube that I was eyeing if you have to stay emissions legal was the JBA mids... They are an expensive option but they're also Stainless Steel... I've got to get a few other projects done before I decide what I'm going to do for my exhaust though...

Take it easy

I would have to say anything is better flowing then the stock manifolds, Go for the LT's even if you keep the air/egr, get the matching y pipe and get a cat welded in , it should hook right up to the exhaust.

I have Mac mids on mine and they kick ***. Your only really out about 10hp with mids from LT'S. Plus you don't give away your low end torque like you do with LT's. Not that you lose a lot with LT's but thats what the LT1 is famous for....low end torque.

im up in gwinnett and nobody cares if its in the stock location. i was running kooks 1 3/4 and catted y to pass emissions. the y should meet up with your catback. if you have future plans for the car go ahead and swing the long tubes

Mac Mids are good headers.
AS&M makes them too.
