Converter question
I just installed a fuddle 3600 converter and ordered a tune from Ion. Now my problem is when I put it in drive the car is always trying to take off. How do I check to see if the converter is stalled correctly? This one feels as if it is stalled lower than my stock converter. Any help would be great. Thanks

My Fuddle felt SCARY strong. It threw me back in the seat at 28 mph. And I mean it THREW me. Too bad I botched the install, I think. I did this one right and zero problems this time around... so far at least.

You jut have one that is tight..slam it to the Floor and you should see the RPM's go up to around 4k as soon as it starts to move right before it breaks loose. Everythings more than likely normal..
What do you think you messed up?

Don't quite know. I guess I didn't let the fluid circulate enough. Probably screwed the pump almost immediately. It acted like it had no fluid, even though I know it did. It was probably a tad low too. I also didn't put a cooler on and the tranny itself was 103k miles. It started slipping on shifts at my second WOT attempt. But DAMN, when it engaged, it was POWERFUL. Moreso than my current 3200. Which is disheartening. My current one feels like a very tight converter. It feels like a stock replacement until you step on it, but it doesn't feel as torquey as the fuddle did.

Thanks for the help. Tried calling fuddle a bunch of times today but all I get is there voice mail. Go figure when they lost the first converter in the mail it took forever to get a hold of them. Hopefully I can talk to them soon. Was hoping the car would run right for the shootout. I guess we will see.

Sorry, you weren't able to reach me yesterday; it was a pretty crazy day. Make sure you always try the main line to talk to Carissa, too. It is easier to reach her. (801) 358-8661 I don't have any unreturned messages now, though.
I would expect an 1100 rpm idle to try to push you into the intersection and jump off of the line. 1100 is a really high idle, especially with stock cam.
With checking the stall speed of the converter, there are 2 basic ways to approach it. The first, and least accurate, is to check the brake stall. Hold your foot on the brake, and slowly roll into the gas. See where the RPMs go before the tires start to break loose. This is brake stall and will be between 20 and 30% lower than actual flash stall speed.
The second method is to put the car in gear, and let the idle carry you to about 3-5 MPH. Floor the car and see where the RPMs "flash" to. That is where the converter is stalled - the point where the converter flashes on launch. Let me know what you get.

Just to update everyone, I talked to John and he was very helpful. Hopefully with talking to John at fuddle and Ion at Madtuner I will get my problem solved. Ion suggested to setup the tb because that might be causing the high idle. I guess with their help I will find out tomarrow.
