nice!

did you have to swap the entire spindle from a C5, or did you hack up the LT1 spindles & add caliper relocation brackets

Thanks!

Yea... I hacked up the spindes and added UMI brackets. It was really simple once i figured it all out. My friend thought we could do it with a hacksaw Luckily i knew better and bought a sawz-all lol.

Going with the C5 brakes? You'll love it, huge difference. Hardest part was getting the damn C5 brake lines on, they don't fit very well. Then i had trouble bleeding the brakes, as i had the calipers on backwards. If you have any questions on doing this Rev let me know!

your car looks nice. i really need to do this mod myself. i sped up a little trying to make a green light and it turned red too quick so i mashed on the brakes real good and it reminded me of how weak my brakes are. too the floor and pushing back on my foot. ****'s silly.

are the c5 brakes much better than the ls1 f-body brakes?

Thanks LT1MAN.

Yep I hear you on that, trying to slow from 125 to 40 on stock brakes sucks.

C5 brakes having slightly smaller pistons than LS1 brakes, but the brake pads are directional. Also C5 rotors are 1" bigger than LS1 rotors, 2" bigger then LT1 rotors.

Where did you get your spindles? I need to by them for my swap. Also, can you make a quick write up on how to change the spindles? Thanks

I think I'm interested in upgrading my brakes. My car has been sitting forever, and my rotors are rusted like a ****. Are there any writeups on this? Is it correct that the C5 brakes require 17" wheels? How much did everything cost? Where did you get your parts? Did you do front & rear?

I guess another option is LS1 brakes, but the C5's are better, correct?

Directly from UMI:

Requirements
This kit requires a minimum of a 17” wheel for clearance. All 1996 and newer 17” wheels will fit correctly with this kit. If you are running a different wheel set up please research fitment before purchasing.

From our research we have found the following wheels will NOT clear with the conversion kit, they may clear with the correct wheel spacers:

1. Enkei Win- 17” x 9.5”
2. 93-94 SLP Firehawk wheel- 17” x 9”
3. Borbet Type T- 17” x 9.5”
4. Forgeline RS Reverse Rim

No good writeups yet, UMI has a basic one. I'm working on one, should be done in a little bit. Expect to pay around 800 bucks for this conversion. I've seen it as low as 740 bucks for rotors/pads/conversion brackets/all bolts and brake lines needed. I'll put a list of all parts i used for reference.

I got my calipers/brackets/brake lines through ebay. Bought UMI brackets from byunspeed. The rear is not worth changing, I have the C5 calipers and rear rotors and lines, didn't put t hem on though. There is no difference though, rotor and calipers are about the same size as our stock ones for the rear.

I have a site bookmarked that's $650 for everything for C5s. No hacking involved lol I'll be going with them if I ever upgrade. BUT I don't think C5s will fit under the 16s, so I'd be just doing LS1s which are easy.
