There is a LOT more to suspension than just shocks and drag shocks will suck on the street and adjustables if any good will cost a lot.
Personally for a street/strip car the shocks are the last place I would look for traction. I have firm "sport/handling" shocks all round on my car and still manage to hook just about as well as guys who bought Hals and spent money on more suspension stuff.
Valve the front too soft on the rise and if the car can not keep the nose high it will lift out of the hole and then settle back down before the 60ft and spin.

I had stock shocks cutting 1.6's and my dad had stock shocks and he cut a 1.43 on the NO2. They are the least of your worries. LCA's, ADJ. Torque Arm, Subframes, and Eibach Drag springs with a RR air bag is all we have done. And of course tires.
