I have been looking at cams for my LT1, what is the most aggressive and bet cam out there? Looking at the cc305, cc306, GM847. Are there any others that would be good for a LT4 top end, LT1 bottom build???

Built bottom end and 6800 redline will LOVE the 847. There is no comparison in my opinion.

speed costs!
what are your intensions for the car, what mods do you already have?
there is more to having a sweet motor than just having a large cam in it.

You need good heads to really take advantage of the 847 and 306. Regrettably there is no best cam, every setup is different. I love my cc306, but I plan on going custom when I build a bottom end. We need current mods and intentions to really help you out, bigger isn't always better when it comes to cams.

just search, IMO just consider a custom cam.

My 95 T/A engine is mostly stock, the block has about 5000 miles on it, and i was going to do a LT4 heads and intake conversion, polished and ported, with about a 150 shot, just wondering whats the best cam for my application. Do i go with the build bottom end or do you think she could hold up?

Sounds to me like we are too late to help you get this right.

Almost noby will tell you to run the LT4 stuff. A "mostly stock" rebuild has a BIG chance of being a step backwards from truely stock as most shops can not match GM's quality.

The LT4 intake is not an upgrade unless ported.

FWIW the cam I run is between the 305 and 306 and I would not consider either of those anything worth consideration.

you'll be leaving a lot of power on the table slapping an real aggressive cam on a mostly stock car. sure you would make extra hp but remember its ALL about the combo. get in mind what are your goals in terms of 1/4 mile times and if you want to do it on motor or with a power adder. see what your budget looks like and then see if your goals are attainable with that budget. if not switch your goals up. you can't have champagne tastes with beer money. don't start building without a solid plan. that's a mistake that i made in the past and don't intend on making it again. save yourself the headache and plan it out. if you need help post your goals on here and im sure someone will help you out on how to get there.

Sounds good, my budget is about $12,000.00 4 the motor, im looking for a really good top end set-up with an aggressive cam, there are just so many options out there i dont know were to start. Some people say go with the LT4 set-up when some say go with an LT1 set-up, im looking to put her on the bottle further down the road, but only a 150 shot or less. There are really no tracks around were i live so basically, a shout out to all those ricers out there, to "just dont #$ck with this car" attitude, im sick of them reving their engine at my car, like they wanna piece of my T/A. I just wanna leave em in there tracks and show em there place. And very occasionally id take my car to New England Dragway.
So if someone could give me a good starting point of what i should do, Seriously, Im ALL EARS!!!! Thanks

For $12K??

Built bottom end
LE3 heads/cam
Or AI or similar heads/cam setup.
Then get all the supporting mods and you are set.

head and cam package
manifold porting
boltons (headers, bigger injectors, bigger tb,catback, fuel pump upgrade)
built tranny
stall converter
suspension
12 bolt rear end
drag radials
dyno tune

so right there your looking at 11-13K and you basically would have almost the whole car covered. if your not doing the work yourself figure another few grand for installations. also i'm assuming your bottom end is in good shape. if not you could be looking at even more for a rebuild. however with all the stuff listed there and i might have forgotten something you would have a pretty bad *** car. a gas guzzler but bad *** and it shouldn't break on you. do searches on all the above things so you can decide on which brands to go with. i didn't want to get all sponsor specific.

also i still don't see what 1/4 mile times you are looking to run. the quicker the more $$$. if you just want to beat "ricers" it won't cost all that much. a low 12 second car will practically whoop 90% of them.

kind of makes my jaw drop thinking i've already dropped over 15K on my freakin car. tallying up the totals is scary. these damn cars are money pits.

I think you gotta do alot more research on stuff and figure out exactly what your going to do in terms of the bottom end and heads before a cam should even be thought about. A cam is just a small piece of the giant puzzle and you want to make sure it will fit right with the other pieces but you wont know that until the bottom end and heads are figured out. If you get any old nasty cam right now and then dont match up the setup you will just end up building a shitty setup that runs disapointing times which nobody wants but happens all the time.

Regardless of the path you choose, you need to make sure you find someone who will put it together correctly. God is in the details.
