First Time To The Track.....go 19.55.....
Ya......
So I took my firebird to the strip for the first time today, first pass, launch from 3300 and it feel like someone achored a boat to it, stutters and bogs and won't accellerate until 4000-4500 rpm then it pulls semi normal, but once i change gears does it again. Its like an extreme misfire - stutter, car just wont accelerate WOT, I can get it to go if I slip clutch really bad or slowly slowly go thru the gears to high rpm.
Plus it takes a million years to start, if it feels like it.
It shakes violently too, I was lucky to get it back home.
Any suggestions as to where I should begin my search?

Opti is new vented unit that was installed by the prior owner, shouldn't have more then 2000 miles on it. Also wouldn't an opti trigger and SES light?

Will do, prally just gonna change all the wires and plugs, I just noticed that if i slowly give it light throttle it acts normal, but WOT it sputters and attempts to die.

That happened to me. I limped home and figured it out right away after a quick look over. Like he said, start with the basics and check for melted or loosely connected plug wires and it wouldn't hurt to pull your plugs out and clean or replace them. Keep us updated. Good luck!

Yea, plug wires look ok but maybe im missing something, havent pulled a plug yet, its getting harder and harder to start, and its jumps around at idle sometimes, other times its fine.
No codes tho.

If it were a miss, your SES light would be flashing most likely. Is there anyway you can scan the car with autotap or any kind of scan tool? Do simple checks. Did you mess around with you plug wires? Are they reversed? Did you check for fuel pressure? How many miles are on the car? Do you have the original cats on the car? Did you check the cats like I stated in the post above? Its going to take some detective work, but you will get it.

Well id just put a fuel filter on it for starters, very common for them to get almost completly clogged and only run at low rpm. Then as stated go for ignition stuff, and put a fuel pressure guage on it..
But hey at least it looks good
ps: if you change the filter on it and you get black colored gas coming out, usually thats the impeller of the pump coming apart and your going to need a new one soon.

I see, just odd, the cat is relatively new (well its off a 99 LS1, but only one of the 2 ls1 cats are used) as is the fuel filter. Fuel pump was supposedly changed last year, but i guess this stuff happens.

Ok wires look ok visually, and I pulled the #1 plug, looks like this

Seems to start up a lil bit better if I prime the fuel a bunch of times. Gonna go out later and get a new filter (again) and a pressure gauge.
