Default Optispark Wiring and Plug

In conjunction with some other repairs, I just replaced my Opti on my 1994 Corvette 383. I went with the upgraded (vented Opti). Once installed, the car would crank but not fire. We figured out the plug on the wiring harness did not fit on the upgraded Opti any more, since the plug had changed. Seems it needs the 2" plug, not the 1" plug (or 3", not 2", whatever).

We called the Chevy dealer and found the replacement plug is available--in fact, it's in stock, small wonder--but it's about $200.

Let me make sure I understand this: GM acknowledges it had a big reliability problem with 1st-gen Opti, so it replaces it with a new design, and just to gouge the consumer more, they make it mandatory that you spend another two "C" notes to make the wiring work?

We haven't found an aftermarket alternative yet. Does anybody know of a $9.99 alternative plug in the aftermarket that fixes what GM broke? Thanks in advance.......

I got my opti changed at the dealer for free to the vented one under waranty and I suppose they changed the plug to adapt it. I never knew they had to change the plug. Does it have to be hard wired or does it adapt to the existing wiring? I 'm gonna be under the car tomorow or the next day and I'm gonna have a look.
