Default Bad optispark, timing?

Question regarding my 94 Formula: When I go over 3k rpms, the car starts backfiring and losing power then dies. When you restart it, it turns over for a little while then starts back up. The owner before me replaced the plugs and wires already. The car drives fine if I stay under 3k though. So I'm thinking maybe the optispark or the timing? Maybe the lifters aren't seating? What do you guys think?

I am selling the car, and a kid came with cash to buy it today and it pulled this crap. I don't drive it much, and on the way back from gettin the car washed, a high pressure radiator hose started leaking and car started overheating. I can't wait to get rid of it, gettin into another LS1 car...
