help me decide, 383 or 355
ok guys been doing some research and i am about to start building my motor. so far my car has a cai, twin 52 TB, lt4 hot cam kit, shorties, full exhuast, holeshot 2400, 3.73's, transgo shift kit. the motor is getting weak (176,000 miles) and starting to smoke a bit. i was initially going to just go with a 355 but got to thinking about a 383. i will be getting the stock heads port and polished while its getting the other machine work. now whatever i do it will be forged seeing how i beileve i fried a ring or 2 sprayin the car.

this will be in a DD car, so reliability is key. i know the most advantages and disadvantages to both, just need a bit of other opinions. gas mileage doesnt matter and future plans include forced induction (next summer), bigger injectors, and a better set of heads . so tell me what you think or if you know of any better kits for either setup

lol well that is what im doing. i bought that cam to go in the stock block. but now reading threw what other people have in their 396's its not going to work. anyone wanna buy a brand new lt4 cam kit lol? my plans change so often its hard to keep up.
and f*** that idea. cant afford to buy all new heads and ****, i need to stick with the original plan and just do the forged 355 and slap a turbo on it later on

Any cam will work , a hot cam on a 383 or 396 wont make too much more hp then on a stock motor just more tq. IF you have your mind set on a hot cam yes it will work but you could yeild much bigger results with a bigger cam and some heads on a 383 or 396.
