Default 95 TA fuel tank/fuel pump?

I know this is an LT1 engine forum but i figured you guys might know better than anyone else how to help me out.. I have a 95 TA w/ a LT1 and im tryin to change my fuel pump.. I have to pull the tank and i have the muffler off and the heat shielding off. I wondering what to do or take off next.. My Chilton book says the rear axle assembly.. Does this mean the whole rear end has to come off in order to change a fuel pump? Thanks for any input....

doesnt it just show them unbolting the panhard and upper bracket, then lowering it with the jack?Did anyone recommend the doggy door option(cut a hole above the tank) so u can access the pump from the trunk?

I had mine out a couple of times. You only have to take the rear loose enough to clear removing the tank, maybe not all the way out but mostly. The problem is that the tank is very difficult to get out due to it's shape and location.

Empty it as much as you can if possible. You will most likely have to bend the filler neck slightly for R&R. A word of caution: make sure you get the sending unit for the gauge rightwhen putting the pump in. I had to pull mine right back out once cuz I wasn't focusing on it, just anxious to get it fixed.
