I have installed both and more. 9in may be a 'Little' harder but not much.

A few questions.

6 spd or auto?

ABS or traction control? (3 or 4 channel)

Is there something wrong with the "free" 12-bolt? What do you me by getting it to work perfect? If it's free and in good shape, I'd have to say roll with it...

Make sure the 12 bolt is set up for a 4th gen. A standard GM 12 bolt won't work.

The reason i ask those questions are

6Spds will blow a 12 bolt if you beat it hard, the catch is 9in rear ends usually do not have provions for ABS(3 channel) but do work with Traction control(4channel)

Preferably you would want a 9in for a 6spd car and 12bolt for auto car.

As noted that 12 bolt you are looking at has to be an aftermarket unit built for a 4th gen or it won't work.

Good luck man!

also don't 9 inches rob more power than 12 bolts since they are beefier units?
