Default question on 4L60E .... enter!!

im thinking of installing a 4L60e that has been sitting for about 2 years in a shop. is it ok just temporarily ?? i need the car to run while i save up for a performabuilt tranny. it came off a 94z. dont know the millage.. but i know it was running well before the car got in an accident. my fried wants 200 buks for it. if i do decide to do this... what shouild i change on the tranny ? gaskets... filter?? or is it bad since its been sitting for 2 years?

I would take it to a shop and have them run a diagnosis. Get it read out and maybe even change out the filter in the valve body. If it reads good, then there is no harm in a temp. install. Since the milage is unknown, 100,000 miles is about its life limit. Anymore miles than that, its running on borrowed time. You can get a "good" rebuild on it anywhere from $1000-1600. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I would agree there is no such thing as bullet proof anything can fail its how the company stands behind it if it does that counts
