Default KYB AGXs at the track

Whatsup everybody. I'm just bought some new shocks. My car is mostly street and some strip. I went with the AGX's since they fit what I was looking for and Sam recommended them. Those of you with AGXs what setting do you run them on at the track and what are those 60 fts looking like?

I had them on the front set at 1. The rears were old stockers all on sportline springs, LCAs and panhard bar with 3.73s in an auto. I turned a few 1.8sec 60' on 18" street tires.

I know the 1 setting is supposed to be equal to stock. so you were baiscally running stock seetings all around. 1.8 60ft on 18" street tires is pretty good and you were lowered all around.

anybody else running these at the track?

I have them on all 4 corners. Would love to trade them for some QA1s. Its not that they are a bad shock, just not great for drag racing. My car is not that powerful so they don't work that bad on my setup.
1.75 sixty foot with a 275 60 15 MT DR. Rear shocks set on 2. Fronts on 1. I have an Eibach drag launch spring kit on the car and the front shocks just won't weight transfer like I think it should.
The AGXs are a great street handling shock in my opinion, just not good for drag racing.

1 is the softest or the hardest setting?

i figure the fronts should be set pretty soft and the backs stiff for drag racing right?

They work nice for me, I have cut 1.7 60's on 17" nitto's, but not consistently. I think my fronts are at 1 and the rears are at 6.

1 is the softest setting. That's what I've got mine at in the front without the swaybar. 1.7 60' W/ chrome salid shoters, I'm trying to fix that!

What number (front and rear) do you keep your AGX's on when you drive on the street?

so is 1 the firmest on these things?
you want the front end to lift up so you transfer the weight to the rear tires.
you want the fronts loose and the rear at the firmest setting

1 is the softest (loosest) setting, it will allow the front end to rise and fall with minimal resistance. You will want the front to rise allowing weight to be transfered to the rear tires as CGrant said. The rear will naturall want to squat due to the added weight being applied but too much squat will actually hurt performance as it is wasted energy. Unhooking your front swaybar endlinks will help front end suspension travel alot if you've still got one!

A few weks ago I jacked up my car to do front brakes. One of the AGX's dumped it's fluid everywhere. They have about one year/8,000 miles on them. I never felt these were paticularly good shocks. When funds allow, I'm going with the single adjustable coil-over QA1's from UMI. Thinking about the same for the rear.

I've used the white KYB shocks in all my other cars for literally 20 years without any issues or complaints.

Was your car by any chance pulling the front wheels on the launch? That seems to be the hardest on shocks and a big cause of failure. The shocks are designed to control the spring but when you launch and the fronts quickly come up the shock extends to its max causing wear on the seals. Some shocks can take more of a beating than others! If you weren't pulling the fronts then you probly just got a bad shock, either way you can't go wrong with the QA1's!

C Rules, sorry to jack the thread

i heard the qa1s were real easy to break on the street if you encounter bad roads. maybe its a myth maybe its not.

I've yet to pull the front wheels. And the roads in NYC are the best!
