Exclamation Simple question before i go wasting my money

Do 1.6rr's give you more horsepower?

Some people say yes, some say no! I need to know from someone that knows what they are talking about. Everyone I've asked so far has said they know what they are talking about, so that creates confusion.

My opinon.... Ive put 1.6 on a Stock Lt1 and I could tell NO difference... and I also changed the springs so It had plenty of "Lift" room...

But, I believe with a cam it will make noticable wheel Hp difference...

If you keep stock heads and run 1.6rr's with LT4 springs, you notice a difference, I'd say 10+ hp.

I had asked this same question a while ago and got mixed answers also. I think the majority said that you will gain some power up top.

with upgraded springs than the 1:6 will give 8-12 hp but that is about a 5% gain over stock so it is hard to notice by SOP.

A lot of people guess, a lot of people "think" they are getting more horsepower and some actually do, but we have dynoed 1.6 on a stock motor and saw an average of 3-6 HP, Just like the airfoils we saw nothing to a max of 3 HP, of course they are some that say they have gained 30 RWHP on an airfoil

If people think they won't see more power with 1.6 rockers, then they are stupid.

If you feel it, it will be topend pull. To say that you won't gain power is retarded.

Like I said we saw an average of 3-6 HP, are you going to "Feel" 3-6? I think not...Top End Charge

im sure the more supporting mods such as intake, headers, and TB the more horsepower you will gain with a stock cam. There have been other people that have dynoed thier cars before and after and have picked up 9-11 rwhp. But all I can say is that I did feel a difference in top end, im not talking about SOTP feeling but enough to justify there is a difference

This doesn't help him really, because you did 2 things, so you don't know what helped more, i'd say you'll see alittle more in the upper RPM range, but not enough to justify the cost & labor involved IMO, spend your $$$ on the exhaust, a good set of headers/catback/take the cat/cats off, this will gain you a good 20-25 RWHP & a noticable difference, also get a CAI.

from everything im hearing im gonna agree with you. and i also believe its not worth 200 bucks if im not really going to do too much. full exhaust and intake is probably the way to go. thanks man

Gains? Yes. Is it cost effective on a stock engine? No. It is not a worthwhile mod at the point where you are. They have their place, and it just isn't there on a stock or nearly stock setup

I have pacesetter headers and pacesetter y-pipe I am also getting a cold air intake how much could I put up with the 1.6rr's and the springs? What brand do you reccomnd for being the best rr's and springs? i plan on doing cam, gears, and more suspension with what I have above.
