Default Race question Plus odd happening..

Raced my friends 5.0 he has head cam headers intake DRs gears estamates 270 or 80. 3200 points.

I have a4 long tubes CAI 1LE elbow GMMG ORY LCAs and 3:73s recent.

He heated up with his nittos and launched from 4k( Is that normal for a street driven 5.0?) I have bfgs and didn't heat up. I also didn't load my converter. He took off like a bat out of hell and I caught up and was spinning like a mother ****** hard it was within a car length or so and still spinning at the top of 2nd. BUT at the top of second it felt like the tranny wasnt pulling anymore, wouldnt shift into third. I pulled out of it and pulled over and looked under car and drove it. It felt like everything was still fine after that drove normal.

So the questions:

If I woulda heated do you think it would have been closer? Anyone ever had a race like this?
Second What the hell happened to my tranny? anyone had this before? Slipping tranny?

Sounds like your tranny may be on its way out. When mine was bad it would bounce of the limiter in second. If you wanna preserve it try to skip second by keeping it in first then take your foot completely off the gas and it will shift to third.

The Forward Sprag...this happened to me before my tranny was rebuilt. Not saying this is it but it could very well be.

Your trannys going out and you need to have it rebuilt. Mine got so bad that if I punched it in 1st from a roll it would hit the rev limiter, then I'd let off and let it shift and get back on it and it would do the same thing. Your trannys on its last life. These 4L60s aren't known for thier strength, kinda like the 10 bolts

Yep, when I installed my stall on the stock tranny it blew quickstyle. Was not shifting at WOT and then it started slipping VERY bad when cold and spitting coolant out the dipstick.

Sorry to say, probably new tranny time.

Did you retune for the 3.73's? Since your speedometer will be off it may be causing you to hit rev limiter.
