Default Replacing Water Pump...NEED HELP!!!

My water pump broke on my 94Z
Went to replace it and guess what it does not match up...
It does not fit flush against the block...
Now, I have never replaced a water pump before but I did not think is was going to be this hard...
Is there an easier way to do this?
Is there a trick that I need to do?
Seems to me that something needs to rotate to get it to fit flush...
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO, TO GET THIS THING TO FIT IN IT'S PLACE??

I agree, if you can match the old with the new, that is how you can find any flaws that their might be. It sounds like that the new one might be the wrong one or something might be warped, cause even a B-body WP is very simmular, the diffrence is the hose connections.

turn the drive on the back of the waterpump till it lines up with the drive spacer. it will then fit flush. might take a few times but no big deal.

make sure that the drive gear is properly inserted. This could be your issue. Also, get all the hoses out of the way, and you may even want to drop your cooling fans for added space (little easier to install the WP this way).

It should pop right on.
