starter issues
hey guys, havent posted on here in a long while but i have a quick question
I finally finished building my 355 and put it back in my 93 trans am this weekend and went to crank the car for the first time and all i heard was click click click, so i put the battery charger on it and let it sit for a few minuts and still all i got was clicking so i took the starter off and accidently touched the 12 volt to a peice of metal on the frame and it sparked. I got back in the car and tried to turn the starter over and got nothing so i checked all my fuses and they were all fine. I can manually jump the starter off but i get nothing with the key.
Any suggestions because i am just stumped. Sorry for rambling on!

Few questions:
1) Can you physically turn over the engine by hand? Any binding?
2) Is there a SECURITY light on the dash when you try to start the car?
3) Have you tried disconnecting the smaller purple starter wire (solenoid wire from VATS system) and testing it with a voltmeter for ~12vdc as someone else turns the ignition key?
Without any further information, I'd say the starter solenoid may be shot or something's up with the VATS system, but you'll have to do some more testing to verify the problem.

yes you can turn the motor over by hand.
No the security light is not on when you try to turn it on.
Take the small purple wire off the starter but leave the two smaller black wires connected? Ill try that and see if i get around 12vdc.
Any other ideas?
I am getting a good ground if i can jump the starter off by hand right?
The starter is a brand new Autozone crappy reman starter but it does have a lifetime warrenty so i might just take it back and see if its shot already. Lol

ok so it has to be a fuse somewhere. I hotwired the starter up and the car fired right up, with no hesitation and it sounded like a beast.
Which fuses can it be? Could it have something to do with my vats system?
