Many kits out there, just google. A cheap upgrade is LS1 brakes, there are MANY posts on here about them.

As he said, LS1 is cheap upgrade as you can get most of the parts out of junk yard or off of parts cars here. The LS1's incorporated dual piston cali's up front vs the LT1's single piston so much better stopping, but leave the rears alone if your doing this upgrade as they are virtually the same in both cars. If you wanna spend some bucks you can go for the C5 upgrade off of the vette or even aftermaket with Baer and Wilwood, but it all depends on what you want to use em for - IE: street, strip or autox.

And as Dave said, the rears ARE pretty much the same. Swapping is a bit different though since their e-brake system is different (but considered better by many) and a swap might leave you e-brakeless. As for the change, only .3inches bigger for the LS1s

Also, all the 98+ F-Bodies have the bigger fronts, so you don't have to worry about specifically finding a V8 car. General junk yard price for all the stuff (including calipers and rotors) is about $250.

Yup..the LS1 Big Brakes is a very nice upgrade. They are Dual-Piston Aluminum Calipers..compared to our Steel Single Piston ones. Leave the Rears alone, the LT1 Rears are very easily modded to fit the 15" Draglites.

The rear LS1 rotors are 1" bigger along with the front rotors. I did the full swap and can really feel a difference. I would not just do the front unless all you care about is fitting drag wheels in the rear. There are 15" wheels made that will clear the LS1 rear calipers without any grinding. You just have to do your research.

Default if I was doing it again,

I believe I'd do the C5's. still fit 17"s.
almost, or more than (???) another inch of rotor space - difference would be more noticible w/my 18" chrome Z06-replica-weight-gainers.

Upgrading the rears is a waste expecially if you are going to do some track days. LS1's are alot more prone to axle hop under braking than LT1's.

On a side note I'll have some UMI brackets for sale after I pull them off this weekend.

I got the baer track kit for a pretty good price a couple of years ago. I was worried about them fitting in the 17" tt2, but they ended up being real good and snug. If you can find that kit, I like mine.

Look in to Kore3, they have the best prices far as a C5 brake upgrades go, other wise, scour the for sale sections, I have seen two wilwood kits on here in the last month and half.

Did you stop and look at your LT1 rear brakes? The LS1s are only .3" larger in diameter, although they are much thicker. Not worth the pain of pulling the axles and changing the e-brake setup out. We built my buddies 95Z w/LS1 using a 98 TA as a parts car, and when we got to the rear brakes (even though it was free) we decided is wasn't worth the time and effort.

it would be easier to put in a 3 or 4 channel LS1 rear end than changing the backing plates. i wanted to do it when i did the fronts, and when i read up on changing them i backed out. ill save that for my 12 bolt.

C5 brakes will NOT fit with torque thrust wheels. Just a warning OP.

I snagged my whole LS1 conversion off ebay for under $200 shipped. Just search around here or there, you'll find a good deal. It came with the steering knuckles, calipers, rotors, pads, ABS sensors, like someone unbolted the ball joints and stuck it up on there.
