if it were me i would just go with a gm opti. i have heard that accell opties have too many problems. and thats the last thing anyone wants is a problem with something that is already a pita. and i have had a friend that had nothing but problems with msd plus they are expensive.but then again some ppl have luck with msd. i guess it is a hit or miss thing. i put a gm opti in mine about 20k ago and iv had no problems.

+3 on horror stories on Accell's :S From DOA to rubbing rotors to short life span. When all that work is involved in replacing the Opti, it's worth the extra money for a Delco.
What I plan to do, knock on wood, when mine goes out or when I replace the cap is to seal it with a good bead of sealant and drill a small hole somewhere safe and make it vented.

I went with an MSD and loctite on the screws. It's been flawless so far and the overall quality of the unit was quite impressive. I do have to say at over 100k my factory opti was still working fine though also. Just went with a new MSD when I threw the 383 in

Can someone clear this up . Are the Delco optis the same as Delphi ? I thought GM sold the Delco parts business to Delphi a while back and Delphi was now the manufacture of GM replacement parts. However a seller on e-bay was selling a delphi 1994-5 unvented opti part number CZ20009 that is made in Mexico for $265.00. It this a knockoff or is it GM equivalent ? Can you still buy a genuine Delco opti ?
