Default misfire cylinder #7???

i used my mac obd2 scan tool on my car and it didnt have any codes or anything but it came up misfire cylinder #7 what could that be? i have no clue i know the car needs a tuneup is it possible it could be more than just a tuneup causing it to misfire?

Point on the cap, plug wire and plug. Any of those parts being semi screwed up could easily cause a misfire. So plugs and wires would be a good start.

I suppose it could also be the injector. Since you mentioned OBD2, I assume you have a 96+ LTx. So it should show on your scanner number of misses, how often, and the injector pulse. Should help you narrow down things.

i dont know how to read all that other stuff yes and my car is a 97. but i did the pending codes and it came up misfire cylinder #7 thats the only code or anything

This wouldn't be a code. It's be an operating parameter (or something). Unless you just have like a cheap scanner ($50~).

its red from mac is all i know i got it from a friend i will check tommorow and look again how i got to the screan where it told me misfire at. it may have been thru the view data screen.

replace the wires and plugs and hope that fixes it. i had that problem with my car. it was misfiring on the #6 cylinder and it took me 2 months and over 1k to finally diagnose and fix the problem. stupid opti.

hey darkknight did you change the plugs and wires first and it still did it?

ya i replaced the plugs when i swapped in my hooker headers. and the plugs right after i burned two of them out on said headers. fixed it for a minute then started agian.

It could be an injector also........and if the motor is high miles, carbon build up can do it too..

i heard of some kind of fluid or something i cant remember what it was that was good for carbon build-up ima start with new plugs and wires tho tommorow and see how it goes.

i put it in the shop today and told him to call when its done no matter what the cost lol im tired of fooling with it. he said it could be a list of different things and that he will call me after he diagnose's it in the middle of this week. hopefully i will be driving my lt1 and my ls1 will be parked finally getting some goodies under da hood and in the *** end of it...........
