I blew my motor and had a new (used) motor put in. The shop that did it said they put a new sending unit on the motor when they put it in, so it is the gauge that is the problem. Is this possible? it is stuck way high and doesnt move at all, if that makes a difference. Is their a way to fix the gauge without replacing the whole cluster? thanks

Anybody have this problem before? I need to know if I should start trying to locate a new gauge cluster.

Have you checked to see if the sender is connected?

Your sender is on the back of the block right behind the intake manifold.

No I havent, Im pulling the engine soon for a LS1 swap, but will be keeping my LT1 gauges, I just want to know if I need to change out the cluster or not. How would I go about checking the sender to see if its corrected?

See if the weather pack is connected to the sender, its like 3in round tube sender. Pretty obvious once you see it.

Make sure they installed the correct sender, You should have a three wire, dual action one lead to guage and one to idiot lite.
