Default what is this called and where can i buy these with pic!!

alright i finally have all i need to put in my exhaust set-up,but i have pacesseter long tubes with a summit x pipe and edlebrock 304 muflers. However the headers dont have the bolt on triangle built in so i need to know what the piece in the picture does, where to get it and can i just use that instead of welding or do i need to use that and weld it as well? Thanks

NAPA Sells them. I think they're just called Exhaust Band Clamps.

(Hopefully the welds on your exhaust are nicer than that ones lol Though an air tight weld, is an air tight weld I guess.)

I use those on my system as well.
I refer to them as "Exhaust Band Clamps" and the parts store always knows what I mean.
I keep spares just in case. 3" band clamps can be tough to come by sometimes.
Larger diameter ones are used in large diesel setups quite a bit.
Torque em down good with an impact and you'll be fine.

Welding the headers to the Y is a good way to seal them, but a real pain in the
*** if you ever have to drop the tranny or pull the motor later on.

If you want big ones, go to a big truck dealership. They use the same thing on trucks for exhaust stacks.

Mine didn't leak the first time they were put on. But they stretch once they are used and when you re-use them they sometimes leak. I ran a few good beads of copper seal around the pipe and inside the clamp before I put them back on and they seal up super fine.

And yes Napa carries them.

Yea, when they're tight, they're unforgiving :\ So if you're wrenching/ratcheting them down, either use an extension, wear gloves, or flat out DON'T slip!

I agree on not reusing them. IMO they're cheap enough that you could just get new ones, instead of dealing with the semi-embarrassment of having a tick-tick-tick-ticking

thats from my exhaust...i got mine from summit. they are about 9 bucks a piece. There are two different kinds...lap joint and butt joint and you will need to know what kind of joint youll have before you order them.

on a side note theres nothing wrong with the welds...i didnt do the welds but i can show you some bad welds.

I know there's nothing wrong with them, they just look a bit rushed heh

I don't know if NAPA sells the lap joints, but I'd go with them over butt, if they do.

Get some aluminum tape to seal it, you can either wrap it around the pipes before you tighten the clamp or over the clamp.

It holds about as well as a piece of aluminum with a gasket maker, but will hold up to all temperatures, moisture, etc.

You can order aluminum tape from a lot of industrial supply companies, HVAC retailers, or aerospace fabricators. It's suuper strong and suuper shiny. lol

well the style of band clamp depends on which type of joint you have...for example the size of my duals is 3" and so is my collectors so its a butt joint...now if my duals would have been a bit smaller and slid into my collectors then i would have a lap joint
