Default HeadGasket

This z28 i am looking at buying blew a headgasket. The guy said the motor will turn over but won't run anymore. I figured when they blow headgaskets they usually will lock up right? Let me know if you guys might know why it won't run. Thanks

No, when they seize they will lock up. Or throw a rod and it gets lodged so the motor can't turn over.

A cylinder can hydrolock when a head gasket blows, attempting to start a motor with a cylinder full of colant like it sounds has been done can do major extra damage, fun things like bent rods.

This was from a spun bearing, not coolant in the cylinder but same thing can happen when the compression stroke tries to compress water. Water does not compress.

I would be careful, head gaskets generally speaking don't just go out. For the most part you can read a blown head gasket and see what happened. What you think may be a blown head gasket could be a car that needs a complete rebuild. Figure out why it went, a lot of people do it by over heating.

Overheating can easily ruin head castings too.

Forgot about hydrolock. Always a good procedure to pull all plugs and turn it over then.
