Coated. One of the most common, regretable mistakes that people make is to not get them coated. Only exception is for stainless, and then you still don't get the thermal advantages of good coating.

I got the painted and dont regret them. But then again i dont really care about how my engine looks under the hood, just how it functions.

Coat them, its seriously a noticeable difference in heat.

You will be happy, as long as you dont mind spending a little extra for the good stuff.

x2. I heard that PS's coating was crap anyways and not worth the extra. I'll take 'em off and get 'em coated locally if I decide I want them coated later on.

At least get the inside coated. Outside it just depends on when you drive the car. If you live in an area where road salt is used then it'll eat the coating in a matter of days.

i got the mac mid headers uncoated. only because i didnt wanna spend the money on there ceramic coating. they get VERY hot and when heat escapes the exhaust it doesnt flow as well because it cools down. coating does more then keep the heat out of the bay and look pretty. it keeps the heat in to help the gases stay real hot for better flow. but ill be taking my mac headers off to get jet hot coated this winter. because my engine bay gets HOT! and its not good for anything

I have Hooker SuperComp's uncoated. I painted them with this high temp VHT paint, wrapped them with header wrap, then sprayed them again with the paint, took it through 3 heat cycles, and everything is dandy. No paint chipped/burned off, and it keeps me from burning plug wires and such. Definately worth wrapping uncoated headers. A buddy of mine has some coated headers, and even got them wrapped too.

That sounds like a great idea, must be real cool under that hood (compared to my uncoated mac mids lets say).

You cant go wrong with either, and both combined has to do a better job

Coated for many reasons. It will lower the underhood temperatures quite abit. Also it will increase the exhaust velocity a tad. That will convert to a few extra ponies.

Uncoated here with no problems. Have had them for 5+ years.

Coating is much safer than wrapping.
Header wrap tends to absorb oil and could result in a nasty fire.
I'm actually rather surprised that anyone wraps anymore.

X2...seen a lot of oil fires from wrap and wonder why I ever still see it but I'm sure some people have had good luck with them.

Coat the headers and move forward. It sucks to pull them off to have them coated when you don't do it in the first place.

When you guys are referring to uncoated MACs, do you mean the chrome version of them? Does anyone know more about the finish of those?

The 1500 Degree paint DOES NOT work like coating. It simply means the paint will not flake off at high temperatures.
