If your trans mount is broken, your shifter will bounce up and down. This is what mine did when it was broke/old and dried out.

I know it's hard to see, but look at the reflection off the top of the ball. You can see how bad it's bouncing.

And here's a picture for you, you can see that it is dried and cracked. IMO, if you suspect it's broke, get a new one. Mine was only $21 for a polyurathane.

^^The Energy Suspension ones are nice.. you can get them at your local Autozone.

The Tranny Mount was the first thing I bought to replace cause I broke it, and I got one of the Energy Suspension ones..it's lasted until now without a problem.

Yep, thats what I got. A bunch of people told me that it would vibrate quite a bit, but i have noticed almost no difference. Besides if my tranny is vibrating bad, I wanna know about it, lol.

Haha, I know the sound. It's almost gut-dropping the first time you hear it. I thought I really messed something up. You'd notice that sound no doubt. I'd just get under there and check out the mount visually. Even if its not bad, you can't go wrong for ~$20. Definately not going to hurt it, but I'm sure this would fix it.

I miss my energy one Going from a broken one to an energy is quite amazing. Not just the "well it's not broken anymore!" but they are so much tighter than the standards.

the one for my t56 looked like this, you use a bolt that comes with it in the middle hole, and the original mounting bolts

Here's what a broken one looks like LOL

Feeling a "bang" against the floor when you step on it is generally a pretty good sign yours is toast.
Pretty easy to replace though. 15 min with handtools and a floorjack.

The one in my 95 is broken. I'm going to get a poly one to replace it.

That's the right way to do it IMHO. But you may feel more drivetrain vibration.
The other option is to use an LS1-style mount, they're a little tougher than the old ones.

Just ordered the prothane kit for the motor and trans. My trans mount is shot, perhaps all the noise I was blaming on the body mounted torque arm, might not have been all the torque arms fault.
