OOPS... Just got kicked out of Great Lakes Dragaway for an 11.04@125 in a 96 IMP SS
Car is set up for road racing and is on a DOT tire... 1.67 60'
This thing rocks!!!
I don't know much more other than it's a 383 with AFR heads, FAST ECM and VERY stock sounding!!!
There is no safety equip. so they tossed it out....
Shifting @ 5800 because if it goes to 6000 it will break up (Thought we fixed it with a new GM optispark but no luck)
HELP!!!!
WE NEED ANY SUGGESTIONS OR ADVICE AS TO THE HIGH RPM MISFIRE!!!!
It is NOT valve float--- has anyone had a similar experience with the FAST system???
Car will trap 128@6500 in drive but had to shift into OD because of the misfire problem...
It is not running to it's potential yet and when it does it should be a solid 10 sec. 4500lb. car that idles at 750 rpm WITH A/C!!!
And with the hood UP you see NOTHING...

Nice, be sure to post up some pics/times when you get it all sorted out...
The stock opti does not last long above 6,000rpm, that could be your problem. Could I suggest an MSD opti or something similar like a Dynaspark?

Look at post history.
In the past he said they were pulling a blower to replace it with a 400 shot. If they followed through and actually hit it with 400 and this is all it did then that is just sad other than having survived.
Definetely fast and I would guess they started with less than the full shot.
Maybe we will run into eachother come fall as I will get down to GLD a few times yet this season.

We had rebuilt the motor and gone with an MSD unit but the high RPM gremlin showed up. We then replaced it with a NEW GM OPTI and thought the prob was solved... NOPE.
The nitrous is at about a 75% cycle and it is supposed to be 400 total HP.
We made 4 passes in the mid 11's@120 before they said anything... the 11.38 pass they told us to go talk to the tower...
He suggested we lift @ 1000 ft. until we feel everything is right (11.70@90mph)
until the last run.... he told us it WOULD be the last one of the night so make it "BANZAI".
We were not rude and I think they were amused watching the ET drop .2 EVERY pass!!!
Keeping the car in drive until 6500 without breaking up is what I'm looking for help with here... I have nothing to prove regarding the ET or MPH.... there was no video taken but I can post up slips...
IS ANYBODY ELSE USING A FAST engine management system that has worked through this hiccup????
PS... Thanks for all the responses believers or not.... (Wanna race?)

WE REALLY NEED THAT 800 RPM!!! to keep the car out of OD. It has a 3.42 gear.
If we get it straightened out I'll post straight away...
Please do the same!
And good luck!

That's bragging rights for sure, not just the speed, but getting booted out of a track for it lol But no one can complain it's justified, they have safety to worry about, and their own *** if people get hurt.
Great job on not just hauling the mail, but hauling the whole ******* post office!!!
I concur on going LTCC. Or Ford EDIS for a bit cheaper way. (Here and Here for EDIS info)
